IN BRIEF
Helen Cawthorne has, throughout her varied career as a pianist, accompanist, chamber musician and educator, particularly enjoyed collaborating with singers and string players in the Romantic song and chamber music repertoire, whilst also giving over thirty performances of newly commissioned works. Training at the Royal Academy of Music was quickly followed by recital débuts at both the Wigmore Hall and the Purcell Room, and over the years she has returned many times to the South Bank Centre, most recently with the eight-hand, two-piano ensemble Piano40. A long-standing working partnership with her husband, baritone John Barker, has included BBC broadcasts and recordings on the Sain and Regent Records labels.
Her most recent recording, a third disc of solo piano works by Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel, is due to be released by Prima Facie Records later this year.
